Ohh what a clever idea! I had no idea there was something actually underneath the hair to give it volume!

Lost in the Haze

Thanks for posting this Elsie, I've been wanting to try a beehive for a long time. My mum used to style it in the 60s, and she says she'll help me do mine. We've been looking at some tutorials, just to spark her memory, so I'll show her this one too!

Oh my goodness, never in a million years would I have guessed that gorgeous beehives involve bath loofas! haha. that really made me smile. I would love to try this but alas, I have only just had my hair cut to chin length so it will be a while before I will be able to have a go. thanks for the tutorial anyway, I have bookmarked it for future use! :)

Ah ha. I would have never have guessed there was a sponge in there! Still, too scared to try this one but it looks lovely on the ladies ...

Fantastic! I have to try it! Thank you for your beautiful and useful tips!

I've always wondered how to do this! I had no idea that there's something hidden in the hair to give it all that height! Thanks for the tutorial. I really want to give it a try.

Awesome! I wish I had enough hair for that style. That bridesmaid photo looks cool :)

Fantastic! It's like a Bump-it except bigger! :)

Hello, thanks for posting this tutorial. The beehive looks great. Unfortunately I think my hair is not long in enough and I don't think there is a possibilty to wear something like a beehive with just middlelong hair. May be I'll search a alterantive. Fahnie

oh how interesting, never realised people were going around with loofas on their heads...i always wondered how they poofed their hair up with just spray and initially thought they just had very thick hair too. still hoping you'll show a tut for the braid across the head. please...thank you!

YAY! I have been waiting for you to post this tutorial! :) I love beehives and have always teased my hair until I couldn't anymore. lol I get some pretty serious volume but its hard to comb out later, so this is a much better alternative! Thanks! xo

It was all a hidden loofa! I was looking at the pictures from your bridesmaids (specially your sis with her blue hair) and was wondering how it was done. And looks really simple! Once my hair grows a bit longer I'll give it a try ;)

whoa i didn't know you make it with a bath loofa in your hair! Nice idea though, looks very '60ies

This is so wonderful! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS TUT!!!

I love beehives, they can be so fun yet so elegant at the same time. ♥

The loofah is genius, I was wondering how everyone's hair stayed up; I just thought you had some kind of amazing super-hold hairspray! ha! Thanks for this, I've always wanted to try it. Might not work because my hair's short, but one day...

oooh yay. i had absolutely no clue how to do this but have been admiring your photos!maybe I'll get brave and try it someday! umm btw I'm a new reader I just found you..somehow? anyway, your blog is like a breath of fresh air! just wanted to say hi =)

wow. I wondered how you got them so high! Great tip to use the loofa! Thanks x

I love beehives! I've never tried one on myself before. The loofa is such a great idea!

So cute! I wear kind of mini-beehives, and I use a toilet paper roll! http://blog.geekxnerd.com/2011/06/easy-peasy-beehive-hair-do-tutorial.html My hair is pretty thick, so I don't back comb at all. I love the loofah idea though if I wanted to go bigger and better!
