The Sewing Kit Dress / 3 Ways To Wear It

I'm so incredibly excited to share one of the most special dresses in our Autumn collection, The Sewing Kit Dress! This dress is made of pretty plum colored cotton which was screen printed (right here in Springfield) with a print I designed. It has a really fun collar too. Here's my sweet friend, Holly, sharing three ways to wear this dress...

In Holly's first styling she wore a wrap skirt (c/o Simone's Rose) over the dress with a pair of chunky wedges and a handmade hair piece. I love that this look is casual, but still very put together.

In Holly's second look she wore purple tights and purple shoes with a pop of color in the belt. Who says three shades of purple in one outfit can't work? I love it.

Note: In case you didn't know, Holly is 16 weeks pregnant in this photo. This dress isn't the least bit snug on her. This style is super easy to fit! This dress will absolutely fit her for the next few months of her pregnancy as well as post-pregnancy. Nice!

In Look 3, Holly wore a cute blazer, vintage scarf and glasses. I love the belt under the blazer. She told me that of all the outfits this would be the one she'd be most comfortable wearing to work as a salon owner.

3 Ways to Wear Red Velvet's New Tops

This season we included two tops in our dress collection! This green ascot top is made of stretch jersey knit with a cotton sateen collar. It's my absolute favorite shade of green! Here are three ways to wear it modeled by our senior intern Mallory.

In Look 1, Mallory wore the top with her own high waisted vintage capris. We all agree that this top is perfect for high waisted skits and pants, which are our favorites this season.

In Look 2, Mallory  chose high waisted shorts with cute knee socks and a cardigan. I love this look. It's casual, but still lots of fun!

Look 3 is my personal favorite! Mallory wore a lace skirt and black tights with cute heels with her Teacher's Pet blouse. So cute and polished! She could wear this on a job interview.

Next up, we have the Sketchbook Crop Top. This adorable fishtail top is made of crepe knit polyester. It has the cutest floral pattern that looks like sketches. I love this piece because there truly are so many ways to wear it!

In Look 1, Kinsey wore the crop top with a pair of high waisted jeans. This is the easiest, more straight forward styling for the top. It's super cute and would look great with a cardigan layered over it too.

Note about the jeans: These pants were designed by me, patterned by Jamie and sewn by Mallory. We love them so much, but could not feesibly produce them for Red Velvet this season. I'll share the full story about them in a future post!

In Look 2, Kinsey wore her denim cut off shorts with heels and a cute 1970s hat. This look feels really 70s to me. Love it!

For Kinsey's third look She layered the top over a vintage dress and added a skinny belt. This look is my favorite because it's perfect for Autumn and shows how versitile the top really is!

His + Hers

This season I dreamed up two fabric prints for men's ties that coordinate with the Red Velvet dress collection. Our intern, Zachary, stitched these up and they are lots of fun. Both patterns will be available on September 1st along with the dress collection. They are limited edition. We sorta just made them for fun because we think matchy-matchy couples are sweet. Thanks for taking a peek!

PS. How cute are Kinsey and Josh in these photos? They're newlyweds... you can kinda tell. ♥

The Pumpkin Pie Dress Dress / 3 Ways To Wear It

It's an unspoken rule in red-velvet-land that at least one dress from every collection will be named after a pie. Last Spring we had the Lemon Pie Dress and so it's only fitting that the season we are serving up a dress named after our favorite Autumn treat, pumpkin pie! This dress is made of lush pumpkin colored velvet (literally the most beautiful velvet we've ever seen) with pretty bell sleeves, a low back and a super flattering fit!

In Look 1, Kinsey (Red Velvet's one and only shop girl!) layered a vintage top under the dress. She accessorized her look with sweet ruffled socks and nerd glasses.

For Kinsey's second look, she belted her dress. She kept it super casual with sandals and a messy side bun. This is a look she would wear for a coffee date or to run errands in.

In Look 3, Kinsey looks like a harvest princess (is there such a thing?). She wore a gorgeous feather crown, layered crystal necklaces a gold bangle and platforms! This look is my favorite. (Thanks, Kinsey!)
