Elsie and I are starting to plan some spring/summer back-yard parties for this coming season. It's going to be my first summer in my house (just became a first time home-owner this past autumn). We plan to host a few little get togethers, I may build a small fire pit for s'mores. Who knows! We decided to try creating a few different lemonades, gearing up for the season. Once you have made your own lemonade (make your own from sugar, water and lemons or you can use a concentrate or store-bought kind as your base) you can add in all sorts of flavors to dress them up to you or your guests tastes. Here's what we made:

Grapefruit Lemonade- to a large pitcher of lemonade add in 2 cups of grapefruit juice and fresh slices of grapefruit. Give this one a taste when your done-as you may want to add more sugar if you feel it's too tart.

Strawberry and Basil Lemonade- to a large pitcher of lemonade add 2-3 cups of chopped strawberries and a handful of chopped basil. The longer this lemonade sets the more the basil flavor will infuse with the beverage!

Cucumber Mint Limeade-to a large pitcher of limeade (or lemonade) add one cucumber, thinly sliced, and a handful of chopped mint leaves. This one is similar to the Strawberry Basil lemonade in that the mint flavor will become stronger the longer this beverage sets.

Blackberry Lemonade- to a small pitcher of lemonade add 1 cup of slighlty mashed blackbarries. You can smash these by hand or with a spoon, but the more you smash them the more the color will infuse in your lemonade-pretty!
Happy Monday! emma + elsie
How fun that you just got your new house. Perfect timing too for your parties. These lemonades will be perfect. Wow, the colors are popping so nicely. I'd love a glass right about now =)

Thanks so much for sharing these! I can't wait to try these out this summer, for 2 reasons. 1.) They look so good. 2.) I got this amazing pitcher last summer in Guatemala: its yellow, made out of recycled glass!

These look so yummy! That cucumber mint one is super similar to one of my favorite summer cokctails, which is also great for parties:

I really love haveing big pitchers of fun drinks out at parties. Makes everything feel more special, and it's SO much easier than trying to make individual drinks.

I'm enjoying the first Spring in my new house, and soaking up the awesome patio weather (now is the best time to be outside in Austin). The most fun part of owning your own space is getting to go wild planting things - I'm sure you'll enjoy this too!
I have a feeling these lemonades will all be made soon :) Maybe some mint or basil in the grapefruit one would be tasty too!

These look wonderful! I'll have to make them once the backyard BBQ season starts up!

Mmm! These all look so pretty and spring-like. Cucumber-mint limeade sounds especially delightful. Ooh-- you could even add in some gin and have a pitcher full of cucumber gimlets! Mm, now I know what we'll be bringing to jazz up our summer campout evenings!
