Last week, Mallory and I collaborated on a very special quilt! We spent several days hand printing squares. We used masking tape, Washi tape, soft fabric paint and stamps to print dozens of squares. Each one is different, and we had lots of fun printing them up. It's no secret that I love crafts with paint. It was so relaxing and fun to just chat and print squares together.
Next, the squares were cut into triangles and mixed in with some our our spoonflower collection and a few basic prints from the fabric store, like polka dots and stripes. We kept with a minimal color scheme so that the crazy mix of prints could shine.
Stay tuned for part two. Tomorrow we will share photos of the finished quilt and basic instructions to sew your first triangle quilt! xoxo. Elsie

Beautiful! I especially love that teal flower print. I'm wondering about the ink running when the quilt gets washed, did you test any squares before sewing or is the paint bleed-proof somehow?

Kelly, We used fabric paint so it is machine washable (although I only dry clean my quilts). Testing is never a bad idea, though! ;)

The prints look amazing as does the quilt, loving the triangles! I'd never thought of using my own printed fabrics as part of a quilt - such an inspiring idea, can't wait to see the finished thing X

Your quilt looks amazing already. My mother has sewn quite a few quilts and I adoreall of them. I've recently started sewing myself and I really want to make my own sometime. Can't wait to see your result!

I have been wanting a quilt for the longest time and hoped to make my own one day. I love the idea and uniqueness of using printed quilts that have memories behind them! I can't wait to see the finished product and will have to make my own soon:)

This is amazing! so clever and how lovely to have something that you've seen through the whole process from creating the fabric to the finished product.
I'm currently trying to make a quilt from some fabric I bought in Ghana and Burkina Faso, all different bright wax prints, I'm just a bit scared to cut into it though!

Very very nice quills. There are favorites, such as the one with the triangle shapes on it.
