I've been in search of the perfect at-home chai recipe for years now. I was a little nervous to make this for Friendsgiving, as I still feel like I'm always tweaking the spices. But I think I have finally found the perfect recipe. And I have witnesses! You can always adjust the spice (or sweetness) level to fit your palette.
Spiced Chai, makes 2-3 servings
Needed: 2 bags black tea (any kind), 1/2 teaspoon cardamom, 1/2 teaspoon allspice, 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cloves, 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg and 5 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk.
Fill a tea pot with 5-6 cups water. Add the tea bags and bring to a boil. Stir in the spices and turn the heat down to low. When you are ready to serve add 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk to each cup. Pour in the hot tea and stir to dissolve the milk. Serve with a cinnamon stick! xo. Elsie

This sounds really delicious! Chai is the best, especially with this chilly weather :)

How long do you think this mix would last? My MIL's boyfriend really likes Chai, and it might be nice to make a homemade mix for the holidays...

Yes yes yes! I love chai, but I'm not the biggest fan of buying the tea bags. Oh I'm so excited to try this.
Question though: I tend to stick to the time limit for steeping the tea bags in the hot water (Typically 3-5 minutes for black tea). Do you follow that time limit for this recipe?

Elise- Yes, for this recipe I steeped the tea for about 3 minutes. You like your chai very black then you can steep for a little longer. :)

This looks wonderful! I can't wait to give it a try. I also highly recommend adding white pepper to the mix if you like a little extra kick of spice!
