Lately, I've been styling my hair in knots instead of braids. I shared a photo on instagram and got a bunch of requests for a how-to. Well, here you go. It really is just tying your hair up in knots and adding a few bobby pins. Here we go...
This style is super easy to achieve. First, pull your hair into two low pigtails. Divide each side into two pieces and tie as many knots as your length will allow for (I do four on each side). I pull the pieces upwards as I am tying the knots. Before you pin, use your fingers to loosen each knot. Secure with as many bobby pins as needed. I don't use any hairspray, but if you have finer hair it might be a good idea. :) That's it!
I love how the knots create a more textured look than regular maiden braids. As my hair is getting longer, I am trying to experiment with styles that didn't work for me at shorter lengths. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! xo. Elsie

Aww, thank you. Nice tutorial :)
Love your blog <3

I am dying for my hair to grow faster so it is long enough to do up fun like this. I'll have to save this one for later. :)

Gotta try this! I do not master the maiden braids, maybe the knots will be easier... Looks so cute!

Very cute! I wish my hair were long enough to do this. Right now the only knots in my hair are the tangled kind. :-)

This looks great. I always shy away from these hairstyles because I have long thick hair and it needs so many pins. I shall this though :)

This is such a nice hairstyle, I have a similar hair style to you, so that means I can try it out :)
Thanks for the tutorial, it's nice having different ways of styling long hair.

Cool! I don't really do anything with my hair because I am not skilled in that area, but this looks easy enough for me to do.

Lovely hair tutorial. And so simple. I reckon even I could do this!

Ooooooohh wow this looks so pretty! But is it not a nightmare having to untangle it when you're done, I hate trying to get knots out of my hair?!
