Overnight applesauce abeautifulmess.comWanna make your kitchen smell amazing without baking anything? Then get out your crock pots, because we are going to make applesauce. Yum!Easy homemade applesauce abeautifulmess.comThis recipe will make quite a bit of apple sauce, so feel free to store in jars and pass it out to friends to enjoy. Unless you do proper canning these should be enjoyed within two weeks.Secret ingredient for the best applesauce! My secret ingredient for awesome applesauce: whiskey! Of course. It's my secret ingredient for cinnamon rolls and apple pie as well. Although I am (obviously) a whiskey kind of gal, you can easily leave it out of this recipe, and it's still super delicious. Crock pot applesauceOvernight (Whiskey) Applesauce, adapted from here.

6-8 lbs baking apples (any variety is fine)
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon whiskey (Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey is sweet so it works great here)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
a pinch of sea salt

Peel and cut up the apples. It doesn't need to be super small pieces, make 6-8 pieces per apple. Combine the apples with all the other ingredients in a crock pot. Just dump it all in. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours (overnight). Once it's ready the apples with be super soft so you can mash them up with a wooden spoon easily, if you want a more traditional applesauce consistency. Best applesauce recipe!Warm applesauce is an awesome breakfast or snack. You can also use applesauce in baking (like muffins or cakes, etc.). Make a batch of applesauce this week. Enjoy! xo. Emma
