Today it's winter fruit! I picked up a couple persimmons to make a flavored syrup. It was delicious, super easy to make and added a lot of to my recipe.Winter Fruit Whiskey Smash Winter Fruit Whiskey Smash First up, let's make a yummy syrup!

Brown Sugar Persimmon Simple Syrup, makes one jar

1 cup brown sugar
1 cup water
1 Persimmon, chopped

In a small size pot, combine all ingredients and bring to a simmer. As soon as the sugar has dissolved the syrup is technically ready, but let it simmer on low heat for 20 more minutes to infuse more fruit flavor. Strain fruit with a fine mesh strainer. You can store this syrup at room temperature in an airtight jar for several weeks. Winter Fruit Whiskey Smash Winter Fruit Whiskey Smash, serves one
