I’m really excited to share today’s progress report with you! It’s a BIG one.
But first, you know I love to take a stroll down memory lane… This room started out like this–
A few months after we moved in, it looked like this. A big improvement, yes, but it was still lacking something.
And I finally decided to fully commit and wallpaper all four walls to make it feel both more cozy and more exciting.
Wallpaper makes such a HUGE difference in a space, it feels like cheating. Seriously, minimalists should get into wallpaper because after it goes up, you don’t need to do much more and the room is done.
All-white rooms are the complete opposite. I love them too (obviously), but they take a lot more planning and careful styling to make them feel balanced… not too bare, not too cluttered… ugh! So hard to get right!
A pattern-filled wallpapered room on the other hand, covers a multitude of sins.
Here’s a photo from install day!! It’s so exciting going from point a to point b all in one day.
(By the way, if you live in the Nashville area and need an awesome husband and wife wallpaper team to hire, email me, and I’ll give you their info! elsie AT abeautifulmess DOT com)
Let’s talk about this specific paper! It’s from Hygge & West designed by Justina Blakeney.
I’m obsessed with it!! OBSESSED.
And to be honest, even though it’s really photogenic – the photos don’t do it justice! You really have to be in the room in real life to feel the VIBES.
So now it’s pretty close to done. Next up, we’ll be adding curtains, swapping the headboard for something more special, and adding just a couple details to cozy it up. I hope our guests will feel like they’re on vacation in this room!
This really was a game changer for this room. I’ll be sharing this tour later this year. We’re at that point in our renovation where it’s starting to come together quickly and feel really satisfying!
What do you think about the new wallpaper?? xx. Elsie

Wow! At first I wasn’t so sure about this but seeing the room put together with the bed and desk has totally changed my mind. You couldn’t help waking up happy every day 🙂
O to the M to the G! Love it! So cute that your dress matches. 🙂
LOVE this!!! I think this color/pattern is my favorite of the ones Justina designed.
I honestly can’t wait to get a place of my own just for this very reason! Wallpaper makes such a difference, and I love this pattern and colour. It’s so vibrant and brightens up the room so much! How exciting 🙂

Wow – that wall paper probably wouldn’t have caught my eye but it looks gorgeous – so bright and fresh. I wouldn’t fancy hanging it myself though – I had enough trouble with lining paper and I didn’t have to worry about pattern matching with that!
Hi,
Amazing Post! I Love it.
Thanks for sharing it.
Regards!!
Love it! So fun. But what size bed it that? My guest room has a similar layout and I’m struggling!
I love it! There’s so much personality in the space. It’s poppin’!

Spoonflower’s wallpaper is fully removable (that’s what I have in my dining room). I also like Chasing Paper.

This looks amazing, great choice!
The yellow is great! So bright and happy! How do you get your roller shades to fit so perfectly tight? I put one in my daughter’s room but there are small gaps on either side, and it drives me crazy.
This is a crazy transformation already! Can’t wait to see it once you’re done!
The print of that paper is gorgeous! I’m obsessed!

I live vicariously through your bold and beautiful ideas. I am so much of a neutral person that you make me think outside of my comfort zone and I love it! I love this wallpaper and I never would have tried it but it is amazing.
